Design gets the credit. Copy does the selling.
A beautiful page with vague copy converts worse than a plain page that says something specific. Almost every underperforming website we audit has a writing problem long before it has a design problem.
The three ways small business copy fails
It talks about the business instead of the customer. Years of experience, passionate team, quality service. Every competitor says the same and none of it helps anyone choose.
It is written for search engines rather than people, which was a viable strategy fifteen years ago and now reads as obviously hollow to both audiences at once.
Or it says nothing checkable. Vague claims survive because they cannot be disproven, and they do not persuade anyone for exactly the same reason. Specific beats impressive every time.
What we write
- Service and landing page copyThe pages that do the actual selling, written around the decision a buyer is genuinely making rather than around a keyword.
- Blog and supporting contentBuilt on real search demand and published on a schedule, so it compounds rather than arriving in unpredictable bursts.
- Video and short form scriptsThe words that make a thirty second clip land. Most small business video fails on script rather than production.
- Case studies and proof assetsTurning finished work into something that sells for you, structured around situation, decision, and result.
- Email copySequences and campaigns written to be opened by people who are busy and sceptical.
- Brand voice guidanceWritten down, so your team and ours sound like the same company.
How we learn to sound like you
We interview you and, where possible, your customers. What people say when they explain why they chose you is almost always better copy than anything written in a conference room, and it is checkable.
Then we write to be specific. Numbers instead of adjectives, named trade offs instead of vague benefits, and the honest thing rather than the impressive one. It is a harder brief and it converts considerably better.
Common questions
Do you use AI to write this?
We use it the way a good writer uses a research assistant, and never as the writer. Generated copy reads as generated, and volume is not what your business is short of. Trust and differentiation are, and generated content erodes both.
How much content do we need?
Fewer, better pages beat many thin ones every time. Most small businesses need their service pages rewritten properly before they need a blog at all. The audit tells you which.
Will it sound like us?
That is the whole job. You see the first pieces before anything publishes, and we adjust until it does. After that it runs with a monthly review rather than an approval queue.
Can you work from what we already have?
Often the fastest option. Plenty of businesses have decent material buried in old proposals, emails, and sales conversations. We mine that before writing anything new.
